Pietro Bortolotti
Senior Researcher, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Pietro Bortolotti is a senior researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where he serves as the lead for several projects dedicated to the advancement of wind energy technology. Among these projects are the Big Adaptive Rotor, a large initiative funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) that focuses on the development of rotor technology for the next generation of land-based wind turbines. Additionally, Pietro leads the Holistic Multi-Fidelity Systems Engineering project, a DOE-funded portfolio of tasks aimed at enhancing the modeling, design, and optimization of both offshore and land-based wind energy systems. Prior to NREL, Pietro earned his Ph.D. with honors from the Wind Energy Institute at the Technical University of Munich in Germany.
